Dear Chairman Mgrublian, Mr. Bibbens and Members of the Board of Trustees of Claremont McKenna College,

As we hope you are aware, we recently launched a petition regarding CMC’s abrupt decision to close The Children’s School for the 20-21 school year.  The petition has quickly garnered a great deal of support, with unanimous support among the parents.

In brief, we state that the decision to close was taken without consultation with the parents and faculty of TCS and seems to have been taken without due consideration of weighty factors.  We asked that the administration take a step back from the drastic decision and kick off a more inclusive process. Despite numerous emails from several of us, we have yet to receive more than a “canned” and wholly dismissive and vacuous response from Mr. Chodosh and Ms. Rodgers.  As this matter is of the utmost importance and time is of the essence, we wanted to make sure you were aware of the proceedings.

We believe that CMC has an obligation to all TCS stakeholder’s, as well as a general moral obligation, to take leadership in making sure this essential service remains available in our community during this time of crisis.  We believe to do otherwise would be a failure of CMC’s stated mission.
