We made a lot of progress over the past 2 days!
Thanks to everyone that has signed this petition to get HHS Sec. Xavier Becerra to tell CMS to stop relocating the 700 vulnerable residents from Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco. We just crossed over 735 signatures and are still going strong!
We now have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/726401761924390
Please forward this to anyone you believe could be sympathetic to this issue. This especially impacts all of California and even Nevada, Oregon and possibly Arizona.
If you know of someone that would like to sign but is not technically capable, could you help them along? I'm hearing about many families with this issue. I'm also working with SF Supervisor Myrna Melgar's office to get the petition translated. She has also promoted the cause to Becerra: https://twitter.com/myrnamelgar/status/1547328858881290240
The urgency is now increasing as people are being relocated. We just got reports that 2 residents died soon after they were transferred. This is called Transfer Trauma. It's documented. It's real. And, it has taken two lives since this program started.
We need to get CMS to stop this process immediately!
On a positive note, there will soon be an article published on this issue from a large newspaper!
I'm now reaching out to our local and state politicians to determine how to make a big splash with this petition in Becerra's office.
Remember to forward the petition! Friends, family members, neighbors, vendors, your doctor, your local politicians, church leaders, book club, or anyone else you can think of that will be sympathetic to the cause.
Stay Strong!
