We have received claims that Derby City council has reassured certain schools that the new policy change will not affect the children at their schools.

This is unbelievable, yet so believable.

First and foremost, this is allegedly a  ‘golden handshake’ that is not something documented in policy. Therefore a parent that ever wants to challenge it cannot, because it’s not policy. It can be taken away or conveniently forgotten about at any time.

We are shocked schools are believing this, and furthermore agreeing to it as it puts children at such a great risk.

The council is alluding to the policy change only being effective for certain children; this is not equitable. The policy should be something ALL children and their parents can rely on and be protected by - currently the proposed changes are putting children and their education at risk.

We say NO to golden handshakes. We say NO to quote ‘off the record’ deals. We say NO to the removal of transport for SEND children.

Our children NEED a policy that is equitable and fit for purpose.

WE NEED MORE SIGNATURES. Please share and help us bump these numbers up!
