Petition updateHelp Patriot Park get a crosswalk!

Victory: The Patriot Park Crosswalk Has Been Built!

I’m very happy—although a little late—to share that the new crosswalk at Patriot Park was completed earlier this spring and has now been open and usable for a few months!

Last year, after my son narrowly avoided being hit while crossing 400 South near Patriot Park, he and I started this petition because we knew children and families in our community needed a safer way to reach the park. What followed was an incredible show of support: more than 600 people signed the petition, shared it with others, attended City Council meetings, and helped make sure this concern was heard.

Your support helped demonstrate just how important this crossing was to our community. It contributed to the city conducting a road study, moving the project forward, and ultimately building the crosswalk we had hoped for.

I apologize for not sharing this final update sooner. Since the crosswalk has already been serving the community for a few months, I didn’t want to close the petition without first expressing how grateful my son and I are to everyone who supported it. Thank you as well to the city leaders and staff who listened, studied the intersection, and helped make the project a reality.

This is a wonderful reminder that when neighbors come together and respectfully speak up, meaningful change can happen. Most importantly, children, families, and everyone visiting Patriot Park now have a safer place to cross.

With the crosswalk completed, we are officially declaring victory and closing this petition. Thank you again for every signature, share, message, and word of encouragement. My son and I are truly grateful—we could not have done this without you!
