Prior to seeing “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, I very much enjoyed seeing Electro in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and found Jamie Foxx’s performance to be delightful. When I finally saw the former film, though, I noted that the movie didn’t depict Electro discovering Spider-Man’s secret identity, which was weird because Dr. Strange’s spell in No Way Home was only supposed to transport characters who discovered Spider-Man’s identity into the universe of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

That being said, I can see why a great many people considered Electro’s incorporation in No Way Home a plot hole. I didn’t think that detracted from the movie’s themes or caused the character to not fit with the story, though, and his return was honestly the more compelling choice compared to if they used Harry Osborn or the Rhino.

As a matter of fact, the whole thing makes me wonder if Marc Webb may have created a deleted scene depicting Electro discovering Spider-Man’s secret identity. One that obviously wasn’t featured in the film’s bonus features or on YouTube, and may have been what Erik Sommers, Chris McKenna, and Jon Watts based Electro’s return in No Way Home off of. It’s all-the-more reason for why I’d like to see a director’s cut of the second film, and why this campaign is important to me.
