All the efforts of the community, teachers, and students fell on deaf ears - Complex Area Superintendent of Hawai'i Department of Education, Dr. Mahoe is recommending that Dr. Ramos no longer be Principal of HSDB. The recommendation will go to Superintendent Kishimoto for her approval or rejection. The process will take 2-3 months. In the meantime, Dr. Ramos will remain at Kalakaua Middle School and reside in the cottage on campus. Dr. Ramos will receive an official letter from CAS in the next few days with her recommendation as well as his employment status. No information was given as to who the new HSDB principal will be.
HSDB SOAR and the union will continue fighting for Dr. Ramos against the unjust transfer. HSDB SOAR leadership will be meeting next week to determine our next step. As Mahatma Gandhi said,
FIRST THEY INGORE YOU
THEN THEY LAUGH AT YOU
THEN THEY FIGHT YOU
THEN YOU WIN.
And coincidentally yesterday was Gandhi's 150th birthday, so his quote above is reflected well when Mahoe fought against our Deaf principal and principles.
Nothing about us without us!
Mahalo nui loa,
HSDB SOAR Protector
