A friend sent me a story she wrote on 'Life Underground' when riding to work on the Tube in London a few days ago: Latest figures reveal that whilst nearly 14% of the UK population are immigrants (that's nearly 9 million people!!!!), in London immigrants actually constitute 41% of its population. A quick observation whilst traveling on a morning train in London makes me dispute this 41% figure, as it actually appears to be more like 99%. I know... I know... My observation is of one journey, in one part of London and I am founding my observations on a simplistic assumption of "language" and "colour," which of course such assumption is fundamentally flawed. Regardless, the point I really want to be make is "GOOD FOR LONDON!!!!" And why? London has the strongest economy in the UK, and the obvious correlation that the statistics prove is that the more immigrants - the better the economy! Well, I really have this urge right now to stand up and shout: "IGNORANT BREXITEERS!!!!*" but I don't. I don't - because I have lived in England for a long time and had gone through this process of culturalisation. I feel too English. So I just continue to sit quietly and vacantly stare at my mobile phone.....
