I'm holding out for heroes to stop the closure of Christ Church Primary School Battersea.

There is something deeply satisfying about seeing someone recognise that they have the ability to change the world, and making it happen. I get goose bumps when Batman appears back on the scene to fight Bane just as it seems all is lost, when Iron Man sacrifices himself to take the tesseract into outer space and away from planet earth (more specifically, New York, which is always copping it in these types of movies) or when Wolverine races to his death to save his daughter and her friends.

Of course, in all these movies, the super heroes are fighting super villains, other people with extraordinary powers who are using their abilities for evil, not good. I can only speak for myself, but I know I don't get goose bumps when evil seems to be triumphing, it's the fight against it that draws me in. Therefore, it seems it's not the "super" we are drawn to, but the "hero".

We need to know that people exist who will fight for what's right, who are willing to sacrifice everything, to protect who and what they love.

5 Years ago, The Three Musketeers: : Cleve West, James Alexander-Sinclair and Joe, helped out  Christ Church Primary School by transforming part of  playground into a garden.

Cleve West received a pile of beautifully illustrated letters from pupils at Christ Church CE Primary School, Battersea. They were asking Him if He could help them transform part of their school playground into a garden.

Cleve West said, what impressed me was not only their enthusiasm for flowers and vegetables but also their respect for wildlife.  Being taught that everything has a role in the garden and that no creature should be deliberately and unnecessarily killed, worms and other small creatures were carefully relocated if they were in danger of being poked, prodded or garroted with garden implements.

In their mission statement, Christ Church School places great importance on being able to teach in the garden.

“Pupils who struggle to stay focussed in class focus more easily outside. In recent years the head teacher and staff have developed an innovative approach to outdoor learning that enhances children’s understanding of science, environmental study, mathematics, language development, writing and the visual arts and most importantly that cares for their spiritual, mental, emotional development and physical well-being.     Cultivating kindness and respect for all life encourages pupils to take responsibility for nurturing and shaping their environment. “

Christ Church pupils, Idriss, Brian and Mekhi, (who fancy themselves as the next generation of  ‘3 Men’) and Tyra, goalkeeper for the school football team, all feature  in the film along with some familiar faces that we caught up with on Press Day at the Chelsea Flower Show

Closing Christ Church Primary School to erase the history is wrong

Learn from history, don't erase it

The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.” While this is actually a line from George Orwell’s story of a totalitarian society in Nineteen Eighty-Four, it is quite literally not far off from what we, in a rapid manner, are looking to do here in Battersea-London— United Kingdom erase the past.
