I find it crazy that so many people are complaining about students voicing their opinions. There are thousands of supporters that have spoken out against the mascot decision, and even State Rep. Terry Canales. In spite of all of this support against the decision, Guy Bailey refuses to even listen to the issues. What do you think he will do when other issues are brought to his attention? He will just tune us out, because our input is worthless to him. I also want to make one thing very clear; this is not the only issue that our student body is concerned with! We have so many students that try to make a difference in the University. They are currently in the process of organizing individual movements for all types of issues. These issues range from Environmental, to Tuition and Human Rights! We must remember that we are setting a precedent for UTRGV. We MUST challenge everything the administration proposes. This is our future and our legacy, not theirs. We are also an institution for higher learning, not a corporation. The upcoming changes to tuition will impact every students, and we must ensure that this money raised is used to benefit the students, and not find its way into the pockets of the administration. I strongly urge students to attend the upcoming UTRGV tuition and fee forum this Thursday, November 20 at 12:00 pm. Get educated on the issues, and don't let the naysayers bring you down! P.S. We made the news! Keep the pressure on Bailey! Spread the word!
