Progress, but no mandatory closures yet!

In a release, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. announced that all county-sponsored functions or events with an anticipated attendance of more than 250 people are canceled or suspended for at least 14 days.

Treviño also recommended that events on South Padre Island be canceled or suspended for the same time frame, according to the release.

This is only a recommendation, and due to conflicts of interest present with the mayor of SPI, this will not happen unless mandatory suspension is enforced. Please share and sign petition to make this something we can have happen. Already hundreds filled the beach of SPI yesterday engaging in dangerous behaviors, even more dangerous now because of the looming threat of COVID-19.
