Hi folks,

It’s that time of year again; the heating is on, it has already snowed and it is International Colin’s Day; for those new to the team I will explain. As you will know as a signatory to this petition - on this day in 1987 I received the ‘knock on the door’ that every police family dreads; I was given the news that Col would not be returning home from his nightshift.

Since launching this petition I have asked team members to join with us in remembering Col on this anniversary, celebrating his life by giving him a wave and a cheery smile. Col had a lovely smile.

Today will be the last opportunity that we will have to share International Colin’s Day; it has been determined that claims challenging the legality of Regulation C9 - can and should be allowed to proceed to a full and final Hearing. That Hearing will take place in Manchester on the 5th and 6th of April 2022.

It is likely that the hearing will represent the finishing line for our campaign; I am hopeful that we will cross that line as the victors – goodness knows we deserve it.

Can I also take this opportunity to share with you a wedding photo of Mrs and Mrs Abel-Hall. Our beloved daughter Kelly is on the right of the photo – she didn’t stop smiling the whole day, and Grace is on the left looking beautiful as always.

I had the honour (and the trepidation) of delivering a father of the bride speech on Col’s behalf; I’m sure he was there in spirit sharing that special day and feeling so very, very proud of his little girl.

Thank you in advance for joining me and Kelly in remembering Col today; your comments in previous years have meant so much.

Best wishes as always,

Cathryn
