Despite all our efforts, Pye Homes have now destroyed the sett. We are holding a lantern vigil to remember the badgers this Saturday 3rd January from 3pm-5pm. There will be a minutes silence around 1630. Dominic Dyer, Chair of the Badger Trust is hoping to attend. All of our 2200 plus caring supporters will be there in spirit. The Brian May's SAVE ME TRUST" has sent us this quote of support: "We are appalled the council has allowed this to go ahead with no concern for the badger sett, they should hang their heads in shame. We are well aware of the pressures on council to supply more homes for humans. With the availability of brown field sites more money should be put into comprehensive re development rather than limited and short term profits for one company who have no hesitation in destroying wildlife homes for ever. these creatures do not simply move on. Councils must be pro active and discretionary. This ancient sett will go under the digger to get one prestige home. It is shocking and sad that wealth is still valued in a bank account and not in the amazing wildlife we have around us. I think, we will as a race, find out to late, that the rich wildlife surrounding us is the only true form of wealth and that their presence will in turn be essential for our longevity".
