On July 17th, GTI retaliated against one of our coworkers and fired them. We will not be deterred and will continue to stand up for what is right and continue organizing for safety, well-being, and justice.
As we stated in our last update, GTI did not take seriously our exposure to COVID-19 which occurred on July 3rd, 2020. After months of performing that they cared and were ready to do the right thing, when we had our first exposure earlier this month GTI put the business needs first. Over and against the human needs of workers, patients, and the greater community.
What we asked for was simple: immediately quarantine the staff safely and shut down the clinic to responsibly sanitize the dispensary.
However as us workers have continuously witnessed, GTI is more concerned about staying open to maximizing their profits. GTI can perform that they care and put up a show all over social media and TV media outlets, but the lived reality that workers and patients are witnessing is vastly different.
GTI's disrespect towards justice and life begs major questions regarding the priorities of GTI executives, HR, and management. It is clearly not the lives, well-being, and safety of human beings. Cannabis stands for life, wellness, and justice: GTI is co-opting this beautiful medicine to make money.
And since GTI corporate and management has no shame, we encourage you to continue to support our organizing for safety, well-being, and justice by affecting the one thing GTI does care about: money.
We urge you to boycott all GTI brands, we understand of course if you need to purchase a certain medicine and cannot find a replacement. Here is a list of GTI brands: Rythm, Incredibles, Dogwalkers, Beboe, Dr. Solomon's, and The Feel Collection. We also encourage you to boycott all GTI dispensaries. We fully understand when there is no alternative dispensary accessible to you for your medical needs. Here is a list of GTI dispensary locations: 3C, Rise, and Essence locations.
Please email or call GTI corporate and management to let them know you support our worker organizing and that you will not buy any of their products or purchase at any of their dispensaries until GTI ceases to illegally retaliate against us and respects our right to organize and improve our work conditions.
GTI refuses to address any of our clearly stated demands. They wish to operate business as usual and further ignore our nation's demand for safety, truth, well-being, and justice.
To our fellow Black and Brown coworkers and board of director, whom GTI continues to showcase on social media and use as tokens: we stand with you and have always had your back. GTI is using you and doesn't care about you.
GTI you ought to be ashamed of the blatant displays of tokenism you are committing. You aren't interested in diversity, inclusion, equity, safety, and justice. You are interested in profits before people.
We will not be deterred or intimidated by the retaliatory actions GTI is committing against us.
Thank you for your continuous love and support!
