I listened to today's Press Briefing by Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah MP, Minister of Information, Dominic Nitiwul Minister of Defense and Samuel Abu Jinapor Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and tried to stay optimistic. However, I am not very sure. Like they kept saying, the 100 meters buffer from rivers is WOEFULLY inadequate. Whoever came up with that law didn't mean to save any rivers. As I indicate in this petition, we need that buffer zone expanded to a minimum of 5 kilometers for any attempt at saving Ghanaian rivers to succeed.
Talking about rights, I am sorry. A person who doesn't care about destroying a river that hundreds of thousands of his fellow countrymen rely on shouldn't expect to be treated like a law abiding human being. #saveourfuture #stopGalamsey #StopIrresponsiblemining #Saveourrivers #GreedKills Our petition calls for the expansion of the buffer zone around rivers. Please sign (if you haven't already done so) and share our petition to get us over 10,000.
Thank you very much for your support.
