Hey all,
We're not going to offer words of wisdom on a day that turned tragic overnight.
We are not equipped to do that. We will say, however, that we share your pain and do, individually, what each of us needs to do right now, whether it's to scream into a void, go to a vigil, or eat a pint of ice cream.
We will say this as well - an effort like ours might seem insignificant on a day like today, but what got us here, 331 days later, when people on Twitter say "he served in the IDF, so he's a completely legitimate target," is the erasure of Jewish and Israeli voices.
If you felt for a long time that people don't understand who we are, you're not alone.
When people don't listen, when people don't look, when people refuse to explore, dehumanizing is easy.
Silencing can come in many forms, and it might not even be intentional, but silencing by omission is a real thing, and that's what we see in these bookstores.
Our people are fighting on many fronts to have our voices heard. This petition, the spreadsheet, the forms, that's OUR little fight on THIS specific front, and we're grateful to have you.
Stay well, take care of yourselves, because we have a lot more work to do.
