Unfortunately some of you may already be aware, Gateshead Council decided to cut funding for both the MHM Out of Hours service and MHM Helpline.

Despite this, Pathways advice service has been granted an extra years funding, and Gateshead Clubhouse is now extending its opening times to 7 days a week to make up for the loss of the Out of Hours service.

It will be a different service, as the members of the Clubhouse are not mental health staff, but service users themselves, and wouldn't be able to give one to one support like Out of Hours did, but thanks to the willing members of the Clubhouse, mental health clients would still have a place to go over the weekends.

This isn't a victory, but your signatures have helped contribute to saving pathways advice service for another year.

This is especially pertinent because people have somewhere to turn to when dealing with the hostile environment of the benefit system.

Thank you to everyone that signed our petition.
