The new Government brings new opportunities for Fund Britain’s Waterways to engage and get the message across that our canals and rivers are already deteriorating and need proper funding. In order to do that we need a renewed push to get signatures on the petition and member organisations recruited, to demonstrate how many people think this is an important cause. And in order to do that we need help from YOU, our supporters.
Join our social media push
Fund Britain’s Waterways (FBW) needs to build enthusiasm to get the petition signed and we want it to go viral again. The more people who sign, the clearer the message to government will be!
We are asking all FBW members and supporters to join us in posting the same message at the same time over a period of just over a week as MPs return to Parliament. The message is simple: we have a new government and we need to make sure they know we want them to protect our canals and rivers.
The campaign will run every day from Friday 4 October, when MPs will be in their constituencies, through their first week back in Parliament until Sunday 13 October.
We ask you to post from your organisation’s and/or your own Twitter/X and Facebook accounts using text and photos provided by FBW, as close as possible to 12 noon on each day from Friday 4 October to Sunday 13 October inclusive. You will find the text and photos on the FBW website at www.waterways.org.uk/fbwoct
Also please look out for the posts from others and like, share and repost them.
Write to your MP
FBW is asking as many people as possible to write to their MPs in support of the inland waterways. There are many new MPs and we need to make sure they know about the benefits of canals and rivers, the threats they face, and the increased funding that is needed. MPs who were re-elected also need to be reminded.

THANK YOU for supporting this cause.
