Julian Assange is still in prison in London. After winning his FREEDOM in court on January 4 2021 the US appealed the extradition decision to not extradite Assange to the US and he was denied bail.

"Julian Assange’s lawyers are preparing submissions to counter the US application to appeal the Magistrate Court's decision of January 4 2021, which blocked the extradition on grounds that extraditing Julian would be tantamount to the death penalty. The High Court will decide whether it will allow the US permission to appeal after March 29th."

In 2003 1 million Australians marched against the invasion of Iraq. Queensland born Julian Assange refused to give up. In 2006 he founded WikiLeaks a multi-national media organisation with the aim of transparency, opening up Governments and institutions to the scrutiny of everyday people.

"WikiLeaks is a multi-national media organization and associated library. WikiLeaks specializes in the analysis and publication of large datasets of censored or otherwise restricted official materials involving war, spying and corruption. It has so far published more than 10 million documents and associated analyses."

“WikiLeaks is a giant library of the world's most persecuted documents. We give asylum to these documents, we analyze them, we promote them and we obtain more.” - Julian Assange, Der Spiegel Interview

Julian Assange has been held in a UK prison for over 2 years. The US Government has charged Assange under the Espionage Act. He faces 175 years in prison for publishing information on the US military operating in in the Middle East. He is fighting extradition to the US where he will face a secret trial in Virginia if extradited.

Assange exposed the murder of previously unknown numbers of civilians and published information on atrocities carried out in post 9/11 wars in the Middle East. He has spent the last 8 years detained by the UK government, being forced to take asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in the UK fearing for his life.

Today March 2021 over a million Iraqi civilians have been killed. That’s 1 million everyday people trying to live their own lives. Terrorised and wiped out of existence.

35 Million people have become refugees because of post 9/11 wars in the Middle East. The current wars in the Middle East are all about destabilisation and regime change they have nothing to do with fighting terrorism.

Getting out on the streets is important it builds community with real human interaction. A movement must have it’s feet firmly rooted in the ground to grow and be sustainable. Hence the term grass roots.

Real relationships are built on respect and a love for each other. Can we walk in each other’s shoes for just for a moment? We heard Aunty Karen's Welcome To Country at the Bring Your Light ceremony earlier this year. There was no judgement, her words were warm but powerful, she used encouragement and spoke of inclusion. Assange supporters are a diverse range of people from different backgrounds we should see this as our strength not our weakness.

We come from all walks of life and we each know how important the freedom of Julian Assange is for his family, for each other and for press freedom and our own freedom."
