Hootie's Rescue Haven
11 dic 2016
It looks like the mining will be approved, but with some important stipulations: 1. The mining company cannot sell materials out of this site and so cannot put scales and an office there and this should reduce truck traffic. 2. The truck are not allowed to travel Highway TT, which runs the perimeter of 1/2 of Hootie's property. These are great concessions for the community, but they do very little for the bats. We still need to convince US Fish and Wildlife to visit the site and determine what needs to be done to protect these bats. Thank you to all who have helped fight this battle. The fight for the protection and conservation of our planet is far from over. These stipulations are not set in stone yet and the decision from the commission is yet to be finalized. You can still contact Jane Ledwin at FWS by post 101 Park Deville Dr. Columbia, MO 65203 or by phone 573-234-2132 x109 to voice your concerns for the bats. I am attaching a letter from one of the students from a St. Louis school. Their assignment was to write a persuasive letter about the bats. I think there is hope yet:)
