Petition updateFix the Brown Mountain road in SE NSW with Federal fundingMedia release - Message to NSW election party leaders: FIX THE BROWN!

Feb 8, 2023
Fix The Brown campaign has written to the political decision-makers contesting the NSW election on 25 March calling for two public election commitments to fix the Brown Mountain, which is unsafe, unstable, unreliable and unsustainable in the 21st century:
- the next NSW government to fund the $15m independent engineering study to upgrade the Brown Mountain section of the Snowy Mountains Highway, which links the Far South Coast to Cooma, the Riverina and Canberra. Study to report by 30 June, 2024. ( we need engineers independent of government to tell us how to fix the existing route or identify an alternative route)
- The next NSW Government to prioritise negotiating Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) status for the Brown Mountain section of the Snowy Mountains Highway with the Federal Government. ( this would allow joint Federal-State funding of a major upgrade of the Brown Mountain road)
The decision-makers are: Premier Dom Perrotett; Opposition Leader Chris Minns and Deputy Premier, Paul Toole.
