The ASOS Care Team has now responded to my complaint and informed me that my account will be reinstated.

But let me be clear. I will not be using it.

I will not quietly return to shopping as if nothing has happened. Not until ASOS directly acknowledges the impact this experience has had on shoppers with diverse needs. Not until they take meaningful steps to fix the issues around accessibility, communication and customer support. And not until I hear back from MPs and the Department for Business and Trade about what they plan to do to protect consumers in situations like this.

Because this is not just about me. And it is not just about ASOS. This is about our right to access online shopping fairly and without punishment. As more of our lives shift into digital spaces, we need to make sure people with disabilities, neurodivergent traits, caring responsibilities or non-standard needs are not pushed out.

One of my biggest concerns as someone who is passionate about social change is how quick we are to dismiss issues that do not personally affect us. We must be able to think bigger. This is not just about returning clothes. This connects to deeper issues about consumer rights and the way everyday people are increasingly treated as unimportant and disposable by big companies.

Yes, businesses have the right to choose who they serve. But they cannot deny access based on a person's diversities. That crosses a legal and ethical line. This is complex territory, and if we do not address it now, we risk creating a future where online spaces become exclusionary by design.
