THE CHARTER OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION:

Article 1

Human dignity

Human dignity is inviolable (never to be broken, infringed, or dishonoured). It must be respected and protected.

The police acting in the name of the state did NOT respect the human dignity of Sammy.

Article 2

Right to life

1.   Everyone has the right to life.

2.   No one shall be condemned to the death penalty, or executed.

Sammy was clearly executed and deprived of the right to life.

Article 3

Right to the integrity of the person

1.   Everyone has the right to respect for his or her physical and mental integrity.

If Sammy was confused, the police should have called mental health professionals instead of acting like cowboys in the wild-wild west.

Article 4

Prohibition of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment

No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Sammy was subjected to torture, inhuman and degrading treatment as evidenced by the brutality of knocking him down and killing him with a deadly weapon.
