Response from EU Petitions Commission

For your information I have received a preliminary response from the EU Petitions Commission, which I have attached here. While this is just the first stage of the process and does not constitute a response to the petition subject matter itself, it is nonetheless VERY POSITIVE for a couple of reasons: -- Firstly, they find the petition to be admissible (a basic requirement, meaning that it is a matter which is appropriate for European Parliament to consider). -- Secondly, they have recommended it for the attention of a number of bodies within the EU, including some important bodies outside of parliament... which is remarkable in itself because an EU petition would typically only be expected to receive consideration by parliament. The extra-parliamentary bodies to which the petition has been recommended for attention include: -- The European Commission. This is the executive body of the EU, which is ultimately responsible for proposing, implementing and enforcing European legislation. -- The European Council! The council is comprised of the heads of state of each of the 28 member states (including our own Theresa May) . Thanks again to everybody for the support.
