Congratulations, Nico and Lewis, on your successes in Formula One. I am asking you to use your success and the respect it so justly commands to stop the suffering in South Sudan.

Much of the water in that war-torn country has been poisoned. That's hurting the people, their animals and the environment.

Who's poisoning the water? Oil consortia – one of whose major owners is Malaysia's Petronas. This company is a major sponsor of and supplier to your race team - which is owned and run by Daimler, Petronas' business partner.

So we are calling on you, Nico and Lewis, to show that you care about where your fuel and lubricants come from, and about the lives of the people living in the vicinity of oil rigs. Drive an extra lap at your next race – and drape your cars with the flag of South Sudan's suffering.
