Kodi was a rottweiler puppy who lived on a farm with his mother and siblings. He loved to run around the fields, chase butterflies, and play with his brothers and sisters. He was a happy and curious pup, always eager to explore new things.

One day, he overheard his owner talking to a vet on the phone. He heard words like "tail docking", "surgery", and "pain". He didn't know what they meant, but he felt a sudden fear in his heart. He ran to his mother and asked her what was going on.

"Kodi, my son, you have to be brave," his mother said, licking his head. "The owner wants to cut off your tail. It's a common practice for rottweilers, but it's very cruel and unnecessary. It will hurt you a lot, and you will lose a part of yourself."

Kodi was shocked and scared. He couldn't imagine living without his tail. He loved to wag it when he was happy, curl it when he was sleepy, and use it to balance when he ran. He didn't want to lose his tail. He didn't want to suffer.

"Mom, I don't want to do it. I want to keep my tail. Can we run away?" he asked, trembling.

His mother sighed. "I wish we could, Kodi, but we can't. The owner has locked the gate, and there are no other ways out. We have to stay here and hope for the best."

Kodi felt hopeless. He looked at his tail and felt a surge of love and gratitude. He decided to make the most of his time with it. He spent the rest of the day playing with his siblings, wagging his tail as much as he could. He tried to forget about the looming surgery, but he couldn't. He was terrified.

The next morning, the owner came to the barn and picked up Kodi. He put him in a crate and loaded him in his truck. Kodi whimpered and cried, but no one heard him. He said goodbye to his mother and siblings, who watched him with sad eyes. He felt like he was going to his doom.

The truck drove for a long time, until it reached a small town. The owner parked near a vet clinic and got out. He carried the crate with Kodi inside and walked towards the door. Kodi felt a faint hope. Maybe he could escape somehow. Maybe someone would help him.

As he was about to enter the clinic, he saw a girl walking by. She had long brown hair and green eyes. She was wearing a pink dress and a backpack. She looked kind and friendly. She noticed Kodi and smiled.

"Hi, puppy. You're so cute. What's your name?" she asked, bending down to look at him.

Kodi barked and wagged his tail. He liked the girl. He wished he could talk to her. He wished she could save him.

The owner saw the girl and frowned. He didn't like kids. He thought they were noisy and annoying. He ignored her and kept walking.

"Hey, mister, where are you taking that puppy?" the girl asked, following him.

"None of your business, kid. Go away," the owner said, rudely.

The girl was not deterred. She sensed something was wrong. She saw the fear in Kodi's eyes. She felt a connection with him.

"Please, mister, let me see the puppy. I want to pet him. He looks scared," the girl said, pleading.

The owner was annoyed. He wanted to get rid of the girl. He had an idea. He decided to lie to her.

"Fine, kid. You want to see the puppy? Here, take him. He's yours. I don't want him anymore. He's too much trouble. Just don't bother me again," the owner said, handing the crate to the girl.

The girl was surprised and delighted. She couldn't believe her luck. She hugged the crate and thanked the owner.

"Thank you, mister. Thank you so much. You're so nice. I'll take good care of him. I promise," the girl said, happily.

The owner smirked and walked away. He didn't care about Kodi. He had other puppies to sell. He thought he had fooled the girl. He thought he had done a good deed.

He was wrong.

The girl opened the crate and took out Kodi. She held him in her arms and kissed his head. She felt his soft fur and his warm breath. She saw his beautiful tail and his sweet face. She fell in love with him.

"Hi, Kodi. That's your name, right? I heard the man say it. I'm Lily. I'm your new friend. I'm going to take you home with me. You're going to be happy and safe. I won't let anyone hurt you. I love you, Kodi," Lily said, softly.

Kodi licked her cheek and snuggled with her. He felt her gentle touch and her sincere words. He saw her bright smile and her sparkling eyes. He fell in love with her.

"Hi, Lily. I love you, too. Thank you for saving me. You're my hero. You're my new family. I'm going to be happy and safe with you. I'm going to keep my tail. I'm going to live happily ever after," Kodi said, in his heart.

And he did.

Unfortunately most rottweiler puppies don't get to keep their tails here in the USA.  The majority of breeders dock their tails.  If you know a vet or a breeder, please share this petition with them and share with everyone else too, please.
