Activists and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez champion release of Happy the elephant: "Her spirit is broken"

Protestors gathered outside Bronx Zoo on Saturday to demand the release of Happy, a 48-year old Asian elephant, who was brought to the U.S. IN 1977. Backed by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, the protest came two days before World Elephant Day on Monday.
