Civil Defence Officer Repels Attackers, Gets Arrested by STF in Plateau Masara Kim July 04, 2018 A Civil Defence Personnel who reportedly stood to bravely repel Saturday's attackers in Rakok, Marabar Kantoma village, near Mangu, Plateau State was this evening arrested by men believed to be from the Special Task Force, Operations Safe Haven. His offence, a security source said was refusal to flee along with other personnel of the STF during the attack. The NSCDC personnel who is said to hail from Southern Plateau reportedly saved hundreds of unarmed civilians in the village including Youth Corps members when he single-handedly engaged the highly armed attackers in a gun duel. The attackers who reportedly stormed the village in their numbers opened fire sporadically killing six and burning a Church. It is believed that if not for the bravery of the NSCDC officer, the damage would have been worse. The security source who leaked the arrest of the yet to be identified NSCDC personnel suspects a conspiracy in the entire drama. The allegation of the said officers arrest still hasn't been confirmed though the STF in Jos has confirmed the arrest of four people in connection with the attack. The Media Officer of the Task Force equally denied knowledge of the arrest when contacted on the phone.
