After 7 years of campaigning, ex local councillor Liz Morris and myself (Christopher Riley) were finally having a drink at the soft launch of the newly reopened Winchester pub last night.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the local community, the local amenity groups The Highgate Society and The Highgate Neighbourhood Forum and Haringey Council’s Planning Department.
This proves the power of community and lobbying to achieve the Asset of Community Value status and saving the pub.
The official opening will be on Thursday, 13th October and I wish Sam, Helen and the team every success for the future. They’ve done an amazing job in the restoration. The energy last night was electric with excitement. I hope to see you there for a drink sometime.
