Who is on the District's Menu?

According to Alief ISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Elizabeth Andrea Veloz-Powell, elected officials, the school board members, are purposely not given grievance information to review until the Friday before the districts Tuesday school board meetings. Thus school board members only have the weekend and Monday, 3 days, before Alief’s school board meetings to make split uninformed decisions on matters that have transpired for months and that also affect the livelihood of those savvy enough to navigate the grievance process that is stacked against them. To add insult to injury the board has the option, in an ex parte proceeding (means without you present or having input), to decide not to hear the grievances of those whom the elected officials are supposed to represent. This abuse of power is purposely oppressive and unjust throughout Alief’s entire grievance process which is willfully and knowingly design to take advantage of anyone filing a grievance against The district or administrators. In the words of Board Member Darlene Breaux at this Tuesday’s board meeting, “if you are not at the table then you are on the menu”. I guess the districts ex parte proceedings are serving up a healthy diet of taxpayers, parents, and district employees for Alief to chew up and spit out.
