With the spirit and strength of our ancestors, I hereby would like to thank everyone for signing the petition and sharing your feelings and thoughts. That is a strong motivation for us.

We have two news items to share with you in this update.

1. Video about previous controversial excavations

We recently made the attached video at the location of another African burial ground on St. Eustatius, named Godet. The excavations here took place in 2012 and 2019. The remains of some of our ancestors were taken from the site and to this day we do not know where they are. The video shows how the human remains still at the Godet site were left behind by the archaeologists. As shocking as this is, the world needs to see this.

2. New controversial excavations

SECAR, the same organization that is under scrutiny by the Statia Heritage and Research Commission, has recently started excavations at yet another location https://bes-reporter.com/letter-to-the-editor-better-no-archaeology-than-controversial-archaeology/ We protest against this too.

The struggle continues, so please keep sharing our petition.

"In memory and in honor of our spiritual and courageous ancestors who fought for our freedom without fear against oppression, whereas we now accept and continue with responsibility the moral duty of the struggle they are waged as their legacy, so that nothing will prevent Africans or people of African descent from regaining their full sovereignty and restoring their dignity.

That we may be an example of that ancestral spirituality in our actions, by continuing to fight for truth and justice for all with conviction and devotion, with unity without uniformity, with brotherhood and sisterhood.

Let Ubuntu and the principles of Ma'at during this battle be our guides."
