Victory! Wingecarribee Council Declares A Climate Emergency!

I am thrilled to inform you that 8 Councillors out of 9 voted to Declare A Climate Emergency at about 5pm this afternoon. The room was full to capacity with a great cross section of the community - from the very elderly to tiny infants! This is momentous as the declaration had been knocked back previously on several occasions. Councillors Whipper and Markwart should be commended for leading the charge in a very methodical and realistic way. Their introductions to the motion were insightful, factual and heart felt. The other councillors in favour quoted real life experiences and showed that they are most concerned about the Wingecarribee community - people, landscape, flora and fauna. Also special Thank You to Extinction Rebellion, Southern Highlands for their tenacity and commitment to this issue - we got there! Maybe Wingecarribee Shire can quietly get on with becoming a Renewable Super Power with zero emissions as soon as we can!
