Our city attorney and staff had a letter from Ikea that wasn't given to council until just hours before the contentious meeting last week. Speakers, residents sat in attendance for 6 hours before they were told there would be no vote.
If anyone has connections with NBC Investigates or 7 on Your Side, please let them know about these shenanigans. Critical information was withheld from the council so that they could delay the vote for a lame-duck council. Only Arun Goel asked for this vote to be postponed. He, unfortunately, had no support. The project is a wash. There is not more benefit than cost. It is an eyesore which wastes a prime parcel in our city.
Jing Firmeza and Bobby Khullar (both running for Dublin city council) spoke against the current proposal. The current mayor never put Ikea to November ballot, as promised to residents.
City of Pleasanton spoke against the Environmental Impact and even their local paper (which generally supports Dublin) calls it Lame Duck Decision.
