Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I recently spoke with a deputy director at the City of Chula Vista Parks Department about this petition calling for more soccer fields in local parks.

According to the department, there is currently a park site under consideration for new soccer fields, and Eucalyptus Park will soon include a new turf soccer field as part of its ongoing renovation project! More information about that project is available here.

They also mentioned that the city is working on the Rohr Park Master Plan, which will include opportunities for community members to weigh in on how the space should be used. Residents can stay informed and participate through upcoming Parks and Recreation Commission meetings and by checking the city’s park projects webpage and public calendar for meeting times and updates.

The director emphasized that while funding and shared space needs can sometimes slow down progress, the city is always eager to hear from residents and encourages community participation in planning and prioritizing park development. The department is aware of this petition and has been in contact with several local soccer leagues to discuss upcoming needs and opportunities. The city regularly posts public meetings on park developments, which are open to residents who want to share their feedback on future park spaces and recreation projects.
