This week we have received an update from Tom Kirkland, the Acting Chief Executive Officer from Victorian School Building Authority.

See the attached letter below for details, however in summary due to the sites location (near the Sunshine Priority Precinct), the site will be retained for future educational use (and wont be sold off) and the buildings themselves no longer are listed for demolition. They haven't said that the buildings definitely wont be demolished but are holding off for now.

This is a HUGE win and this wouldn't have occurred without all of your support! An amazing collective effort to save these important and valuable buildings for our community.

However, the fight isn't over yet. We need reassurance that these buildings will be saved AND restored for future use by our community.

The letter states that "the buildings have been nominated for inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register. The VSBA will engage with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and the local council in relation to this matter."

We will keep you updated on the matter when we find out more. Until then please keep talking about this issue and pushing our politicians/Brimbank Council.

The Greater Sunshine Community Alliance.
