Your presence is needed this coming Monday November 2, 2015 at 5:30 at the Denver City Council meeting to speak against the Emmaus Church up-zoning (Meeting Location: Denver City and County Building, Room 450, 1437 Bannock St. - arrive before 5:30 to sign up to speak). The Emmaus team would like you to believe that you do not need to attend because they have requested to change their application, which will delay City Council’s vote for a month. Do NOT believe Emmaus and do NOT allow them to persuade you your presence is not needed on Monday night. The Emmaus Team has requested from the city that they be able to revise their application. They state this is because it is what the neighbors want, but their proposed changes do not address neighbors’ concerns. They are only proposing to change the size of the lot, which does not address the size of the building, use of the building, or inappropriate intensity of use of this lot. It is a ploy in which they hope to distract neighbors from the fact that there is no real change to their proposal and to delay a City Council vote as they are concerned their application for up-zoning will not pass. It is also designed to void the neighbors’ valid protest petition that requires Emmaus to get 10 votes from City Council to approve the application. City Council will vote Monday on whether to accept Emmaus’s revision request. If, as expected, City Council does not accept the revision, City Council will then vote on the current up-zoning application. The Emmaus team does not want you to attend because they do not want you to speak against their up-zoning application. You need to attend to speak against both the request to revise the application and the current application for up-zoning. Do not be swayed by false information from the Emmaus team. Please attend and speak against this deceptive and inappropriate up-zoning.
