Vice President of SUNY Purchase Dennis Craig has since responded to the petition, informing me that the 2019 Commencement Speaker nominees have already chosen and approved. He did appreciate the enthusiasm though! To garner 700 signatures in just four days is no small feat. It's cool to see so many Purchase students come together by signing and sharing the petition. Danny Devito even responded, saying "my heart is filled with love and garbage." He also pleaded for us to "pick up trash, recycle, and be aware of plastics in the ocean."
