Our legislative director delivered our petition for open primaries to the RNC Rules Committee meeting on Thursday, during which there was a push by the Cruz delegates to close the first four open primaries in exchange for an uncontested Trump nomination. While we obviously can't take credit for deterring the Cruz contingency's efforts , our presence was certainly known at the Convention -- thanks in part to our amazing volunteers who signed and shared the petition, reached out to delegates and elected officials on our behalf, and gave hours of their time to our cause. Right now we have one goal leading up to the Democratic National Convention, which is to reach 100,000 signatures. If everyone who signed our petition shares it with just two or three friends, we are confident that we will surpass our goal in the next five days.
