Thankyou for helping us reach 100+ signatures!

Yesterday this petition reached 100 signatures, just 3 days into it's campaign. 

Upon reaching 100 signatures ,I posted an update thanking  friends and family on social media for their support. 2 friends shared the video and almost immediately 9 more signatures came in. 

This demonstrates that people who see the message , feel strongly enough to take action. 

Since launching this petition, I've learned more about the challenges involved with petitioning state government as a resident from a different state.  

I have taken the next steps to reach out resident MP -Jodie Harrison , the minister for the prevention of Domestic and Sexual violence to ask that she take a formal petition to the House on our behalf. 

This change.org petition continues to remain the vehicle to demonstrate the complex and compounding damage to public interest and the cross-border impact and gives people across Australia the opportunity to add their voices.  It will serve to show that there is a coalition of supporters ready to sign a formal petition the second it goes live.

You can comment on this petition , adding your voice and your experience shows decision makers how this negatively impacts public interest. 

I have also since amended some of the wording in this petition , to more appropriately fit those requirements. 

Residents of NSW you can also reach out to your local MPs who priotise the prevention of sexual violence and ask them to petition for an appeal. (If you'd like an example of a petition wording that I understand meets parliamentary guidelines,  reach out to me. 

It is also important to emphasise that the credit for raising this issue and the national attention it is receiving goes to Anastasia.  Her petition for broader, future reforms has already surpassed 35,000 signatures, again demonstrating people feel deeply about non custodial sentencing.  This petition is not about detracting from hers. It focuses on immediate change, public interest . The objective -to strengthen her advocacy.
