Sending this update to our petition signers to let you know how things are going. We have a core group of small dog owners who frequent “Littles Dog Park.” I would like to encourage all of you to come out and join us!
I do not want to give it attention, but there is a dissenting petition up and running at the larger side of Hill Street Dog Park. They are unhappy that they “lost,” and they want our small side made smaller or moved. They have a “survey” and are counting the numbers of dogs on each side of the new fence multiple times a day. I have noticed a marked increase in the number of large park users in the evening and on weekends and suspect that new users are driving from other areas because of the water fountain and shade. Other city parks are lacking them. The new dissenting petition writers are citing more fights in the large area, no surprise. This aggression was one of the reasons we needed our own park.
On our side…It is truly joyful to see the new pups playing together peacefully and safely. Bandit is a 9 year old blind rescue who has recently joined us. He is a gentle, medium sized mixed breed and because of his disability he is welcome. Some of our pups stay close to their people, others run like the wind and are looking for running pals. Come out and experience them with us!
