Das Problem

Living in the vibrant community of Shreveport, LA, I have witnessed firsthand the dangers posed by the intersection on Clyde Fant Parkway in front of the Island Park subdivision and the three adjacent apartment complexes. As a resident, it pains me to see how this one-way stop has become a significant hazard to our community, with lives tragically lost due to preventable accidents.

Clyde Fant Parkway is a bustling area with a high volume of traffic, especially during peak hours. It serves as a vital thoroughfare for residents of the Island Park subdivision and those in nearby apartment complexes, as well as numerous commuters who rely on this route daily. Despite its importance, the intersection lacks the necessary infrastructure to manage the traffic efficiently and safely.

The absence of a traffic circle in this critical junction has led to confusion and chaos, making it incredibly prone to accidents. A traffic circle, or roundabout, would provide a continuous flow of traffic, reducing the chances of collisions and improving safety for all road users. This solution is not only effective but has been successfully implemented in similar situations across the country.

Statistics show that traffic circles reduce injury crashes by 75%, according to the Federal Highway Administration. Implementing a traffic circle here would significantly lower the risk of accidents and protect the lives of residents and visitors alike.

Join me in urging the Shreveport city authorities to prioritize safety over convenience by constructing a traffic circle at this intersection. Together, we can ensure that our community remains a safe place for everyone. Your support and signature can make a difference in moving this initiative forward. Please sign this petition to help save lives and improve our local infrastructure.
