Hey everyone, I wanted to share an update.
Following contact with the Mayor’s office and Transport for West Midlands, the proposal was formally escalated to Birmingham Airport itself.
The airport responded by highlighting the existing viewing opportunities at Car Park 5 and Sheldon Country Park, while confirming that there are currently no plans for a dedicated facility.
While I appreciate the airport taking the time to respond, I still believe there is room for a more official and accessible public viewing area in the future.
One of the reasons this matters is because Birmingham has already shown strong public interest in aviation over the years. Historic events such as Concorde visits to Birmingham Airport attracted huge public attention and demonstrated how aviation can bring together enthusiasts, families, visitors, and the wider community.
This petition has now been running since 2019 and continues to grow steadily. Thank you to everyone who has supported it so far.
If you believe Birmingham Airport should eventually have a more dedicated public viewing area, please continue sharing the petition.
