Hi folks,

We’ve got two things to share with you today. Firstly, thanks so much to the couple dozen neighbours who came out for our community clean-up today. We picked up trash, and we talked a bit about the status of the path.

Both MP Marit Stiles and Councillor Alejandra Bravo came out and reaffirmed their commitment to making the path happen. We continue working with them to explore options for making the path happen. More to come, we hope, in the coming months on this!

In the meantime, we wanted to share another opportunity to take action.

In 2016, Metrolinx proposed the elevated GO transit line through the Davenport Diamond. Many in our community were concerned about the project — worried the raised train would be noisier and more disruptive than a ground-level track.

But as part of their case for the above-ground option, Metrolinx promised the creation of a Greenway under the track, which they said would begin construction as soon as the raised line was complete.

It’s been a year now since the track has been finished, and still, there’s been no progress on the Greenway. This is unacceptable. Without the Greenway, there will be no path connecting Lappin and Antler.

Please take a moment to send an email to Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria to tell him you want construction of the Greenway to begin this spring. We’ve got a letter pre-populated so it takes less than a minute!

Finally, if you use Instagram, feel free to follow us on there, where we’re sharing some cute pics of dogs who have become mascots for our campaign for the path.

Happy spring,

Lappin-Antler path crew
