A response from Bonin's office
Oct 9, 2020 —
Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition asking for an online town hall on public safety with Councilman Bonin. In just under 24 hours we have gained over 500 supporters! Please continue sharing!
This afternoon I received a response from Councilman Bonin's Venice deputy, Nisa Kove: "We are aware of this and the Councilmember is working with LAPD to gather more details and figure out next steps to appropriately respond. I'm meeting with constituents frequently and making sure the Councilmember is aware of the community's public safety concerns."
While I respect Nisa as a member of our community, I do not find this to be a sufficient response to the current situation. I continue to believe that we deserve a public town hall with our elected representative, not individual meetings with select constituents. These issues impact us all and we all deserve a voice. Please continue pushing by sharing this petition and emailing email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for an online town hall.
Please continue sharing your experiences under "Reasons for Signing" as well as the questions you'd like to ask the Councilman. Thank you for keeping your comments and questions respectful and professional. I believe being civil will be the most effective way to make our voices heard as we press for real answers and solutions.
