We're still praying for thousands of commutations for nonviolent offenders serving life sentences or de facto life sentences. This is how there will be a legacy of mercy and compassion. Granting these commutations would also be an act of fiscal responsibility.
Nonviolent marijuana offenders serving sentences of life without parole for marijuana would be an easy category for clemency. They are not a danger to society and the changing culture and attitude about marijuana speaks to the need for sentencing relief. Please Mr. President, grant clemency to John Knock.
