Thank you for taking action to preserve an important part of Los Angeles' cultural history. If you want to see the Fairfax Theatre and surrounding area, click here to see our short video.
Thursday, June 3 is an important day for the future of the Fairfax Theatre. The City's Cultural Heritage Commission will consider this historic Art Deco theater for Historic Cultural Monument status. Their decision to recommend it, or to pass on it, is based in part on community support, so if you are able to call into the virtual Cultural Heritage meeting at 10:00 AM on June 3, it would make a big difference.
On our website, we have detailed information about how to call into the meeting, or to join via zoom. On our website, scroll down to the bottom section of the page for full details. The meeting agenda can be found here. Please note that sometimes the items are taken out of order.
Speaking at the meeting can be as simple as saying: "I support the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles' nomination of the Fairfax Theatre." Or, you can elaborate on your own experiences with the theatre.
Last week there was a fire in the alley alongside the theatre. It is more important than ever, that we speak up for this abandoned building.
Meet the Fairfax in the video here.
Thank you again for your support.
