Burnside Gorge's Moment For A Better Victoria

For the last 4 years, the City of Victoria has ignored your need for safety.
They have turned Burnside Gorge into a ghetto while paying their friends to conduct surveys that dismiss your concerns.
We've seen hundreds of hard-to-house people, many with mental health and addiction challenges, move into hotels purchased by BC Housing.
BC Housing told us these facilities had wrap-around services. Though all they offer is two meals a day, naloxone, and "access to services" in the form of flyers from service providers.
Wrap-around services have left the occupants living in their own addiction and without adequate support.
Minister David Eby promised Complex Care as a way to make the neighborhood feel at ease. Yet Complex Care never came.
Instead, we see our community fall apart and vulnerable people left to walk the streets like zombies, without any compassionate care.
Sadly, residents like you are left being robbed, victimized, and feeling unsafe in your own home.
How did this all come to be?
During the pandemic, the City of Victoria Mayor & Council opened the city to city-wide homelessness. They created the 24/7 sheltering policy that invited the homeless from all across Canada.
You were lied to, gaslit, and your kind-heartedness was taken advantage of.
Meanwhile, the Burnside Gorge Community Association kept quiet out of fear of having their funding taken away from them by the city.
Nobody was served except those that were part of the system that fed this societal problem.
This needs to end, and it can.
This Oct 15th is the Municipal Election. A slate of candidates associated with Together Victoria, led by Marianne Alto looks to reinstate sheltering in parks 24/7.
The new slate is funded by developers, special interest groups, and unions who want to densify our city by removing your right to community consultation.
Though you have a chance to vote for Independent, Victoria residents, who have the community's best interest in mind.
