On 6 May 2021, I wrote to Minister Malinauskas outlining the current proposal from Department of Infrastructure and Transport and requesting his assistance with this petition to redress the following:
- My several demands to be provided with specifics “community consultation” Department of Infrastructure and Transport said they did;
- The lack of any evidence produced from Department of Infrastructure and Transport of the “community consultation”;
- Evidence of oversupply and underuse of the current proposal from Department of Infrastructure and Transport; and
- My alternative proposal (this petition) and the reasons it is superior.
Minister Malinauskas has written to me explaining his office has previous called upon the Marshall Liberal Government to undertake meaningful community consultation associated with the Ovingham Level Crossing Removal Project.
Minister Malinauskas has been contacted by a number of residents concerned with the amount of information provided to them and community consultation that has been undertaken.
Minister Malinauskas’ response has very much been consistent with my experience!
Minister Malinauskas also explained to me, as a consequence, he has written to the Hon Corey Wingard MP, the minister for Infrastructure and Transport, regarding concerns I raised (above).
Minister Malinauskas will contact me again when he received a response to these enquiries.
It is clear that Minister Malinauskas cares about this cause and your needs unlike Minister Wingard and the state Liberal government – it would be worth taking this into consideration next state election.
Thanks again for your support and when I hear a response from Minister Wingard via Minister Malinauskas’ office in due course, I will keep you updated.
Yours Faithfully,
Orren Prunckun
