Beard is a recent graduate (2014; doctor of philosophy) of The University of Notre Dame in Perth, Australia. He is currently associated with The Ethics Centre - Sydney, and University of New South Wales - Canberra (specifically and suggestively at the Australian Defence Force Academy). UNIVERSITY LOGO That email was distributed in reaction to an article which Beard wrote and published on vice.com/en_au - here is a paragraph from my email to him: "Your articleIf Port Arthur Killer Martin Bryant Wants to Die, Should We Let Him? (2 APR 2016) has been noted. It certainly is not an article fit to be published in a refereed journal in which philosophical arguments are presented and critiqued. Your article is a hit-piece focused on Martin Bryant. Images accompanying your article - particularly the one with the assault rifle - have nothing to do with your argument, but everything to do with demonising Martin Bryant. Based on your words, it is suspected that the original title of your article was: If Port Arthur Killer Martin Bryant Wants to Die, We Should Let Him." (complete email is available on the Internet and from martinbryantisinnocent@gmail.com) Copies of that email were distributed to Roman Catholic churches, institutions, officials (clergy & laity), etc. But to date, no reply has been received from Matthew Beard or any church official in relation to the abhorrent, possibly illegal, and grossly immoral article written by this so-called moral philosopher. And it gets worse. For those of you not familiar with the website vice.com/en_au on which Beard published his article, below is the title of and an extract from another article (9 MAY 2016; Alan Weedon) the likes of which appear on this website described on the Internet as an ever-expanding galaxy of immersive, investigative, uncomfortable, and occasionally uncouth journalism. Meet Australia's Most Notorious Piss Fetishist, Troughman For those of us not familiar with the fetish, this is the meaning given at the commencement of the article: "An 'alternative' pastime whereby aforementioned 'trough boy' lies in a urinal trough (usually in a gay nightclub toilet) and proceeds to be pissed on all night by grinning, leather-clad, full-bladdered, sausage jockeys." Now this might or might not be the alternate pastime of Matthew Beard. But articles like this appear regularly on vice.com/en_au - note NSFW (not suitable for work) section - and Beard would have known* this type of article appears regularly on this website. Said sexual fetish article goes on for pages and with images, best left undescribed here, one of them being of Troughman Leethal Elliot (sic) who it says "has transformed his fetish for piss into a political act." Let's express it a little more fully here so we will all have a better understanding of what Matthew Beard has associated himself AND The University of Notre Dame with: "Like many others, Elliot had his first taste of niche gay culture at New York's iconic queer bar, Mineshaft. 'I heard of a club where guys were into getting fisted, but I'd never seen that done in real life,' Elliot tells VICE. Do you believe a graduate of a respected Roman Catholic university should be associating himself and his alma mater with sexual-fetish journalism? Do you believe The University of Notre Dame should do nothing about its Matthew Beard who has written a shocking hit-piece abetting the suicide (State killing) of a wrongly-imprisoned human being and who has wilfully published that hit-piece on vice.com/en_au - awebsite catering to "grinning, leather-clad, full-bladdered, sausage jockeys"? Do you believe Matthew Beard should be employed as a lecturer or teacher at a Roman Catholic or any other institution? MATTHEW BEARD pseudo philosopher Please forward this email to your local diocese and have something done about this appalling so-called moral philosopher Matthew Beard. If you are not of the Roman Catholic faith, you still have the right to contact the Roman Catholic diocese office near you and express your related concerns and/or disgust. And forward this email to everyone who you believe should know what this graduate of The University of Notre Dame is doing. Please note that after 25 May 2016, action related to poor Martin Bryant will be increased internationally. Vanessa Goodwin the attorney-general in Tasmania, and the barrister Jennifer White of the Tasmania Bar have been notified of this. They and Matthew Beard will be further exposed in the forthcoming action. Finally, mentally-handicapped Martin Bryant should be released immediately from Risdon Prison based on humanitarian grounds - and, because he is INNOCENT! Martin Bryant has recently been moved from a more secure part of the prison into the less-secure main prison building. It is believed this has been done to facilitate his killing, which will be officially identified as an accident, a suicide, or the result of an alleged brawl. PORT ARTHUR INCIDENT: The literature says 35 people were killed and 23 were wounded during this official incident which took place at and near Port Arthur, Tasmania, on 28-29 April 1996. The mentally-handicapped (IQ of 66; lowest 2 percent of population) Martin Bryant was made the patsy. He was set up, kept in isolation for over 6 months, denied proper legal representation, and coerced to accept the guilty plea of the corrupt criminal lawyer John Avery. There was NO trial, NO coronial inquest, NO public enquiry, NO royal commission, etc. There is not a shred of hard evidence that Martin Bryant discharged any firearm at or near Port Arthur.
