So glad we won and Simmons Sports Centre still has its name and the public gets to enjoy it.   First the public spoke out and prevented it from being demolished and not replaced. Next in this petition over 3000 of you signed for ‘Simmons’ to keep its’ name honouring the legacy of Frank and Ethel Simmons who donated the land over 50 years ago-THANK YOU! The biggest take away for me was people coming together in a shared voice and who listened to that voice from the start and that was councillor Mitch Tweel. City council heard us and abandoned the idea of selling the naming rights. Thanks for leading the way Mitch and good luck in your bid for Mayor!
