Hi all,
Thank you all for continuing to support, sign, and share this petition. After communication with ASCA leadership, they are aware of this petition, yet are holding firm to their decision to continue to hold the annual conference in Austin, T.X. this July. All of what the leadership communicated to me directly you can read their official statement below.
Despite the request to hold a fully virtual conference so that this professional development opportunity is still available, ASCA Leadership is adamant about holding the conference in person in TX. At this juncture, I am not sure what further action we can take. If you have suggestions, please feel free to reach out.
While this is not the result we hoped for, I truly believe had this petition not been started, an official response would not have happened. Our voices were heard. I hope that some meaningful action can be taken in Austin this summer, so that our collective group of School Counselors can show the transgender youth of Texas that we support them and stand in solidarity with them against these deplorable policies.
